The Business School's Graduate Consulting Unit (GCU) was created in 2006 and offers a unique service to businesses and organisations , aligning the best of our graduate talent and expertise with the real day-to-day needs of businesses. Providing an invaluable stop-gap support service across a broad mix of business projects, the graduates are formally mentored and project managed by experienced industry practitioners and expert academics. This innovative consultancy approach not only gives graduates the opportunity to work on live projects but also gives businesses access to a flexible outsourcing facility. For many GCU clients, mobilising resources quickly to tackle vital projects has made a big difference to their business and been enormously helpful at a critical time.
Accredited by the Market Research Society, clients receive excellent quality consultancy and fresh ideas at affordable rates. The unit can provide assistance on strategic projects such as corporate strategies, change management, marketing plans , as well as operational projects such as communication plans, marketing audits, customer evaluation, mystery shopping, and telemarketing. Our professional unit is based in the Business School at Hatfield but can support businesses in house if required. .
GCU has delivered a wide range of over 75 projects to clients including St Albans District Council, MDNA, Alchemy Metals, Ammeraal Beltech and the Lister Hospital to name but a few. rojects can range from short term to over a year-long and can be designed to meet any size of budget. The benefit to clients is that the results will be high quality, cost effective and approved by academics with specialist knowledge in the area of work. The benefit to our graduates, and their future employers, is that they get the opportunity to hone their skills, and develop their experience of genuine business challenges. .
The GCU sits within o the University of Hertfordshire Business School's Corporate and Professional Development Unit, which specialises in providing corporate services to business. As well as consultancy and research, development, training, coaching and mentoring is available. .
